These days, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the industrial sector is no longer just a trend but a necessity. Did you know that CTR EcoForging, a forging specialist at the forefront of automotive parts manufacturing, has implemented an AI-powered solution to reduce power consumption?

This noteworthy development was featured on YTN’s documentary program [Docu S-Prime] on December 16, 2024. Today, we’d like to share this exciting story with all of you.

To produce automotive parts essential for electric vehicles, a heat treatment process at temperatures of approximately 500–600°C is indispensable. However, this process consumes a massive amount of electrical energy, inevitably driving up production costs. To tackle this challenge, CTR EcoForging participated in the “AI Solution Development and Demonstration Support Project for Tailored Manufacturing Innovation,” spearheaded by Gyeongnam Techno Park last year.

In this project, CTR EcoForging collaborated with AI solution companies ‘DSP’ and ‘AI the Nutrigene’ to implement an energy consumption optimization solution aimed at reducing power usage. Additionally, Formation Labs, a subsidiary of CTR Group, supported DSP’s solution and contributed to the success of this initiative. As a result, CTR EcoForging successfully integrated an AI solution to optimize electricity consumption.

CTR EcoForging operates 8 forging production lines and 3 heat treatment lines. Through the AI solution, the company collects more than 80,000 data points daily from each piece of equipment, including information on power usage, temperature, and production performance. This data is analyzed by an AI model that learns from it to predict power consumption and recommend effective energy-saving strategies.

Thanks to this cutting-edge technology, CTR EcoForging has enhanced production efficiency while simultaneously addressing two critical objectives: cost reduction and environmental protection.
