The Leaders’ Reading Group has been conducted since 2018 in order to broaden the scope of thinking through reading and to enhance discussion capabilities. The Leaders’ Reading Group’s activities consist of ‘reading a selected book → writing a book review on a topic → attending a reading discussion’.
Why do you need a reading group?
A reading group is a place where we can read a book and share thoughts, feelings, ideas, and questions with others. When we have a conversation, we can understand the book more abundantly and have a more diverse perspective on the book. In addition, we can develop an attitude of understanding and considering thoughts and viewpoints that are different from ours.
The reason why Central operates the Leaders’ Reading Group is to let leaders to read a lot of various books, to broaden the depth and breadth of thinking, to communicate horizontally with members, and to hold a book reading group every two months to make rational decisions.
Last April, the book ‘The Tyranny of Merit (written by Michael Sandel)’ was selected as a discussion book for the Leaders’ Reading Group. The leaders said that they had time to look back on the meritocracy society and discussed their own opinions on the ‘fairness.’ Let's check out what leaders think of 'fairness' and 'meritocracy' through the 'Central Blog'.
