CTR Central cooperates with Technologiepark Herzogenrath(TPH) and Aachen University of Technology

HERZOGENRATH Technology Park is growing. As part of a cooperation with RWTH Aachen University of Technology, the South Korean automotive supplier CTR Central has settled there. This week, the company opened a Europe Research Center here and had an opening ceremony. They will work with Aachen University of Technology on new technologies.
Founded in 1971, the company is a producer of car ball and socket joints as well as various connecting and transmission components, primarily serving Korean and American automotive companies. The research center in Herzogenrath will be the first technical center in Europe. Kang Tae Ryoung, chairman of Central aims to "drive the development towards a global enterprise." CTR is one of the top 600 companies in Korea, with sales of $1.14 billion.

Reduction of vehicle weight
Lee Sang Mok was appointed as the representative of the company. Lee was especially pleased about the support of the local partner. "At all stages of the project, we were always optimally supported and looked after, which enabled us to quickly set up our branch office." He pointed out an important aspect of the research was to reduce weight in vehicles. In a delight with participants in the opening ceremony, he said that “we will establish an office first and focus on the start of research projects".

Christoph von den Driesch, mayor of Herzogenrath expressed his delight at the new cooperation: "It was nice to see how the project developed." He said that "Herzogenrath Technology Park is an ideal location as a technical research center in Europe." Also, he said that it is very suitable place to all over the Europe as well as Germany as the center is near to the Netherlands and Belgium.
In particular, this city has many international level projects as well as city level. Aachen City Councilor Helmut Etschenberg and NRW State Economy Secretary Christoph Dammermann Nordrhein-Westfalen said in their congratulatory speech "Welcome to the Land of the Car." In particular, Dammermann said that Aachen City Councilor Etschenberg can cooperate with Korea to carry out a leading edge project. He also mentioned that Korea is highly developed, and there are a large number of companies that want to develop new products.
In addition, Keum Chang Rok, the German ambassador in Korea gave a congratulatory speech and ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schröder sent his congratulations via video message. Central gave thanks to them.


More than 70 companies at Herzogenrath Technology Park

More than 70 companies have chosen Herzogenrath Technology Park as the company site. Of these, about 10 percent come from abroad. Companies from the Netherlands are based on Europe joint project of Herzogenrath. There are about 2,500 employees here and various facilities and services can be leased. Because of it, many young enterprises and venture companies pay attention to it. Mayor von den Driesch stressed that he was pleased that a famous company like Central selected this site. And, he also commended to integrate continuity and innovation in the future researches.
