CTR Mexico started the expansion construction of the Monterrey Plant from the end of January 2020 with the aim of monopolizing the Americas area through localization. Except for the suspended period in April and May due to the coronavirus that hit the world this year, the construction was completed without a single safety accident in seven months. Therefore, a meaningful completion ceremony was held in Mexico on December 23.
This completion ceremony was held simultaneously online and offline due to COVID-19. At the offline site, the minimum number of people gathered (1.5m of social distance) for the event with the President Yu-cheong Mo of CTR Mexico and CTR CEO Yong-ho Yoon, personnel of CTR Mexico, and some people from Korean and Mexico participated in and congratulated the ceremony.
With this extension, 2 factories (B and C) and 1 office building were added to the existing Monterrey factory (on about 3,029 pyeong (10,000㎡) (based on the total floor area of the building), and CTR Mexico now possesses a total of 3 factory buildings and 2 office buildings. By adding a processing line to the existing assembly line, CTR Mexico plans to be reborn in year 2021 as a maquiladora business in 2021 with the new name CTR America. With the new name, we will further expand the business in the Americas for sustainable growth!
